We have a strong candidate for our Jizera home, and the Founder Edition is where the final details come together: a complete private KCT takeover of Montanie Resort, set in forest above the Souš Reservoir in the Jizera Mountains of the Czech Republic — about ninety minutes from Prague, forty from Liberec.
Rooms and private forest cottages, both built in warm, honest timber rather than a conventional hotel finish. A curved dining room with a full wall of glass onto the forest and the reservoir below it — where breakfast and dinner both arrive with the same view. And a wellness floor built to be used, not admired: an indoor pool, a whirlpool, a Finnish sauna and a steam room.
The setting is deliberately quiet — working forest and mountain rather than a resort town — with cycling and hiking routes leaving directly from the property, and Prague close enough for a day of its own if anyone wants one.

KCT Editions begins with a small group of Founding Families, gathered before the major hotel and production commitments are locked in — so the right home gets chosen with the people who are actually coming, rather than announced to them after the fact. Montanie Resort is our leading candidate; the Founders Circle is where that choice, the final dates and the shape of the week come together.
Founding Families get the earliest access, the lowest published Edition rate, and a genuine voice in shaping the final experience. Once the Founder stage is complete, the Edition moves into its wider release. 8 of 20 Founder rooms remain.

The Jizera Mountains
Not somewhere we visit.
Somewhere we live.
Granite and basalt underfoot, ancient beech forest overhead — the Jizera range is a UNESCO-recognised stretch of some of the oldest woodland left in Central Europe. Montanie sits inside it, above the Souš Reservoir, with trails leaving straight from the property.

A scattering of mountain houses in an open upland meadow, ringed by forest — the hub of the marked hiking and cycling network that runs across the range. The Jizera Mountains are also a designated Dark Sky Park, so clear nights here are genuinely dark.
Liberec
A city, close
enough for an afternoon.
Forty minutes away: the Ještěd tower on its distinctive peak, a zoo, a botanical garden, and a proper town centre — the nearest place to feel like a city without giving up the week in the forest.
Prague
A European day out,
when you feel like leaving.
Ninety minutes by car. One of the most walkable historic capitals in Europe, and close enough for families who want a day of it without changing hotels.
A menu of possibility, not an itinerary. Private experiences into the region are arranged separately for the families who want them.

The table
The table is still the
reason we travel.
KCT began in the kitchen, and the Edition is being built the same way — breakfast unhurried, a full lunch each day, something unexpected in the afternoon, and dinner à la carte. Regional ingredients and technique, interpreted through our kosher kitchen.
We are exploring with each property how far its own kitchen will come with us: KCT’s culinary leadership and the house’s chefs working together, with regional producers behind them, under independent external rabbinic kashrut supervision.

Avicam is developing the Jizera Summer Edition personally and will host the week himself, working closely with KCT’s culinary team on the menus, the kitchen, the kosher operational planning and the hospitality that holds the week together.
Giuseppe
Goat · Culinary Observer · Unsolicited Advisor
Giuseppe has been with KCT in one capacity or another for longer than anyone can reliably establish. His responsibilities include observing the culinary operation, maintaining standards from a safe distance, and looking unsurprised when things become complicated.
Giuseppe is a goat. He may also be fictional.
Behind them is the team KCT assembles for every journey: chefs, service, and a producer on location.
The Edition will operate under independent external rabbinic kashrut supervision, with full supervision details announced before reservations become binding.
Three generations
Together, without spending
every minute together.
- One couple walks the forest before anyone else is up.

- Someone takes the children swimming.
- Someone goes up into the mountains.
- Someone never leaves the terrace.
- Someone disappears with a book until lunch.
Nobody has to negotiate one compulsory itinerary. And then everyone finds each other again, in the only three places that matter: the table, the evening, and Shabbat.
Slow days
Not every day
needs a plan.
The water, the terrace, the garden, a long breakfast, an afternoon that goes nowhere. Staying behind should feel like a good decision, not a missed one.
Shabbat
And then the week
changes pace.
Tables that take all afternoon. Tefillah. Children who find each other by Friday night and are inseparable by Saturday. Adults who slow down because there is genuinely nowhere to be.
After a week in which everybody did their own thing, this is the day the whole Edition turns inward.

The things families
ask first.
Is this an escorted tour?
No. It is a seven-night Edition based at one resort. There is a shape to the week — meals, Shabbat, the culinary programme, an atmosphere in the evenings — and you join as much or as little of it as suits your family.
Do we have to join every activity?
Nothing is compulsory. Families come and go from the week as they like, and the day everyone stays by the pool is a perfectly good day.
What can we do around Montanie?
Hike or cycle straight from the property through ancient forest, use the marked network around nearby Bedřichov, head into Liberec for an afternoon, or take a day trip into Prague, ninety minutes away. We will help arrange private experiences for families who want them; they are not part of the published week.
Is this good for grandparents travelling with married children?
It is designed for exactly that. One base, no daily packing, short distances, and a week where three generations can each have their own day and still eat dinner together.
What about grandchildren?
Children have room, water and space, and the resort is the kind of place where they can be let loose. Room configuration for larger families is part of the conversation, not an afterthought.
What is Shabbat like?
Complete, and the centre of the week — tefillah, tables, long meals, and a resort that goes quiet in the right way. Nowhere anyone needs to be.
Is the hotel confirmed?
Not yet, and that is by design. Montanie Resort, in the Jizera Mountains of the Czech Republic, is our leading candidate for a complete private KCT takeover, with target dates of August 16-23, 2027. The Founders Circle is where the property and final details come together before anything is announced more widely.
Are excursions included?
The published week covers the Edition itself — the stay, the culinary programme and Shabbat. Private experiences into the wider region are arranged separately for the families who want them.
Can we simply stay at the resort all week?
Yes, and some families will. The destination should be beautiful enough that staying behind feels like a good decision.
How do we learn about Founder pricing?
Everything is published: the three release stages, the rates including service, the Program Reserve and the family pricing rules are all on the pricing page.
