Shabbat while you travel
Weeks and weekends built so that Shabbat is a highlight of the trip rather than the hardest part to arrange.

Planned first
On a KCT journey the meals that the week is built around are Shabbat and Yom Tov, which are planned first and given the most kitchen capacity. Observance is a conversation: two families who describe themselves the same way will want the week run differently, on standards, on the mashgiach's role, on what happens Friday afternoon and on who leins. We ask those questions early, write the answers down and build the operation around them.
What is arranged
- Minyan arrangements, whether from the group or with a local community
- A Sefer Torah brought in, with the correct handling and storage
- Synagogue introductions and access, including historic and private shuls
- Eruv, walking distances and Shabbat compatible property selection
- Timers, warming and lighting arranged in advance across a large house
- Festive Friday night and Shabbat meals, with a mashgiach in residence where required
On the water, in the mountains, in a villa
Each setting has its own planning. On a yacht the bay is chosen for shelter, lighting and timers are set, generator behavior is agreed with the engineer and hot food is arranged. Read Shabbat at anchor. In the mountains, short winter Fridays and snow are planned around, as described on the Alps.
Our hosted Das Balance Edition also keeps a proper Shabbat, with Friday-night dinner, breakfast, Shabbat lunch and late-afternoon food, and a synagogue on site. See the Edition. For the standard behind the kitchen, see kashrut.
Begin a conversation
Tell Avicam where you would like to go and who is traveling. We discuss honestly whether KCT is the right team, and how an engagement would be structured. We reply as soon as we can.
