Why here
Budapest has the largest Jewish community remaining in Central Europe, and it shows — a working Jewish quarter with real restaurants and real communal life, not only a memorial district. That living quality changes the texture of a visit considerably.
It is also, simply, a beautiful and comfortable city to spend a few days in: the Danube, the thermal baths, the grand nineteenth-century streets — a genuine city break as much as a heritage trip.
The kosher supply chain here is the most workable of the three Central European cities we cover, which makes Budapest a strong base for a longer regional itinerary as well as a destination in its own right.

The Jewish Quarter & Dohány Street
The Dohány Street Synagogue — the largest in Europe — the Kazinczy Street synagogue, and a neighbourhood that is still genuinely lived in.
Buda & the Castle District
The quieter, hillier half of the city, with the views back across the river that the postcards are made of.
The thermal baths
Széchenyi and Gellért — a distinctly Budapest afternoon, and a good one for a family travelling with grandparents.
The Danube
A private evening boat is, more often than families expect, the single best-remembered hour of the trip.

Excellent light, thinner crowds, and the baths at their best.
Summer
Hot but workable; the baths and the river make it more comfortable than most European capitals in August.
December
Cold, atmospheric, and quiet outside the Christmas-market streets we route around.
