One of the best-preserved Jewish quarters in Europe, in a city otherwise built for slowing down — produced privately, with the kosher side handled in full.
Why here
Prague survived the twentieth century with its old Jewish quarter physically intact in a way almost nowhere else in Europe did — the Old-New Synagogue, the Old Jewish Cemetery, the Jewish Town Hall are not reconstructions. That density of real history, inside a genuinely beautiful and walkable city, is the reason families come.
It is also a short, easy city break that does not need a full week to feel complete, which makes it an unusually good first stop on a longer Central European itinerary, or a long weekend on its own.
The kosher side is workable but needs producing properly — a small resident community, a handful of reliable suppliers, and hotel kitchens that were not built for it.

The Old-New Synagogue, the Spanish Synagogue, the Old Jewish Cemetery and the Jewish Museum — walkable in a morning, worth returning to for a week.
The Old Town & Malá Strana
Charles Bridge, Prague Castle and the baroque streets either side of the river — most of the city, on foot.
Terezín
An hour from the city, and for many families the reason the trip was planned in the first place.
Karlovy Vary & the spa towns
A slower, quieter extension for families who want the countryside as well as the city.
When it's actually good
May & June
Long days, mild weather, before the summer crowds — our preferred window.
September & October
Excellent, with the old town at its most atmospheric and considerably quieter.
December
Christmas markets aside, a genuinely beautiful and quiet time to see the city privately.
Summer
Workable, but the old town is at its busiest — we route around it rather than through it.
